In a segment for Sundance TV's The Approval Matrix, Parks and Rec creator/Official Best Human® Amy Poehler had some wise words to share about people's nostalgic yearning for the way marriage worked in 'simpler times'. (You know, back in the days when womenfolk can't vote/ leave?)
The host asks: "Do you think there are almost too many options now? Meaning, is there something easier about arranged marriage - he's going to act like a moron, you act like Jackie Kennedy?"
And somehow, Poehler manages to both address the implied sexism of the hypothesis and answer the question in a completely charming, diplomatic way.
"Boundaries are good and sometimes a lack of choices can be less stressful. For real," she says.
