Tony's
production and performance notes from the Splitsville 'Incorporated'
sessions: Aug 2002 and June/July 2003
WHITE DWARF
Black Epiphone Les Paul into a Tube Screamer through a jumpered Marshall
Super Lead 100 and Power Brake. The solo guitar sounds like it's
heavily compressed, but the trick is sheer volume.
BRINK
Teal Fender 2002 American Deluxe Fat Strat through a very loud Line6
Vetta.
amp models (both mic'd and direct):
Marshall JCM800 & Line 6 Treadplate
Marshall jumpered Super Lead & Line 6 Treadplate
HEART ATTACK
Teal Fender 2002 American Deluxe Fat Strat through a Line6 Vetta.
amp models: Fender Deluxe Reverb & Marshall JTM-45 Plexi. (Both mic'd
and direct).
HEADACHE
Teal Fender 2002 American Deluxe Fat Strat through a Line6 Vetta.
amp models (both mic'd and direct):
Marshall JCM800 & Line 6 Treadplate
Marshall jumpered Super Lead & Line 6 Treadplate
Fun call-and-response solo section with a pair of harmony guitars
(panned left) that last throughout the solo and bridge sections. Crank
up your stereo and drown in an ocean of guitars. Mmmm...
THE NEXT ONE
Black Epiphone Les Paul into a Tube Screamer through an extremely loud
jumpered Marshall Super Lead 100.
CALIFORNIA
For the verses, a modified 1994 blue Fender LS Ultra into a Fender Twin
Reverb.
For the chorus & solos, a black Epiphone Les Paul into a Tube Screamer
through a jumpered Marshall Super Lead 100.
Lots going on in the bridge and solo sections. Listen closely for the
stereo harmony pizzicato guitars. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd solos were all
done in the same take.
MENTALIST
Teal Fender 2002 American Deluxe Fat Strat through a Line6 Vetta.
amp models: Silvertone Twin Twelve & Gibson Explorer and tons of reverb.
(Both mic'd and direct).
TROUBLE
Teal Fender 2002 American Deluxe Fat Strat through a Line6 Vetta.
amp models: Marshall JCM800 & Line 6 Treadplate. (Both mic'd and direct)
My entire track was done in one continuous take, punk-style. I'm
panned hard right and Matt's on the left.
WISH
Black Epiphone Les Paul (middle position) through a clean Marshall Super
Lead 100.
For the outro, the same guitar (neck position) into a Tube Screamer
through a cranked-up, jumpered Marshall Super Lead 100 and Power Brake.
My lead track is on the left, Matt is on the right and Paul comes in
later in the middle.
