Staying married may have long-term benefits. You can elicit much more sympathy from friends over a bad marriage than you ever can from a good divorce. - P. J. O'Rourke

  • Daryll I got a text out of the blue yelling at me about her poor credit score and how its so bad because I didn't pay all her bills and "take care of her." Its true that we fell behind on those. We had so many of them and we started each month in the hole. I did cover her medical bills including $100/month or so on meds then her surgeries. Then the change in diet that drove up our food bill including $45-50 week on stuff just for her to juice in the mornings. I always told myself we would work on her bills as soon as we were over the next hump but it seemed like a new hump was always coming. Once she started working, she spent all she earned on herself and had one foot out the door. I don't know what I can do now. She has the better car and I am paying the note and insurance for her and part of the cell bill and send her money when she needs it. I've never been happy with myself about this. I just don't know how I can make it right 10 years ago   *   5 replies
    • Daryll I texted her back telling her I am sorry about all that and she responded she is not going to call our daughters. I told her she could call them and ignore me. 10 years ago
    • AMpr411 Daryll how old are your daughters? who they live with? I dont understand why she is punish the girls. 10 years ago
    • Daryll The girls are 6 and 10 and stay with me. She texted later and said she couldn't talk because she wasn't feeling well. She hasn't called so far today. I don't need her mad at Christmas. I don't quite understand why she brought all that up again now. 10 years ago
    • AMpr411 sounds hard but sometimes is better: a not good influence close. May be she is very lost and she can even think clear. I don't understand, a "normal" mom wouldn't never be away for her children. I would say; try to give your girls the best time of their life, make them feel loved and have fun with you and the people would be around you. You cant control other people behaviors, I would tell them: mom doesn't feel good to come and expend time on Christmas. Good luck and Merry Christmas! 10 years ago
      • Julie Anne Hmmmm interesting situation there. When I still lived with my Ex, I paid all of the rent, and most of the bills, so he could follow his dream of being an actor. He used to get so mad if I ordered myself a $10 martini when we went out (something I also paid for). We remain friends, and he just had the nerve to get mad at me for spending a whole $36 of my hard-earned money on something frivolous! He's not my man any more, he's on his own financially, he has no place to be talking about what I do with my money. It sounds like your Ex is in a rough place health-wise, unfortunately she IS a grown woman, and needs to take control of her own finances. 10 years ago
