Hello from Splitsville.

It's a New Year, and that means more resolutions that we're bound to break. Like Tony's resolution to cure his sleep apnea and Brandt's yearly missive: "I shall not kill." My resolution to update the website every month is going strong for now... unless you're reading this in the middle of summer.

This is also the time for Paul to reveal his psychic predictions, and here's what he's come up with for the year 2002 AD:

1. President Bush's reference to the "evil ones" takes on a new meaning after he gets stoned, listens to Led Zeppelin's "Ramble On" and sees the Lord of the Rings movie. From then on refers to Saddam Hussein as "Gollum."

2. The Baltimore Orioles, in a misguided effort to further their "youth movement," signs the corpse of Babe Ruth to a bargain five year, $60 million dollar contract. It is revealed after the corpse fails team physical that the contract is guaranteed. To add insult to injury, the contract has a no-trade clause.

3. Natalie Portman gets even hotter. Geeks everywhere rejoice.

4. Splitsville finally decides to sign a record deal in the States with a "promising" Independent or Major label. Records a labor of love that is nothing like its predecessors, yet still has that Splitsville je ne sais quoi. The label goes bust right about the time the new Splitsville single starts picking up radio adds. Band has collective nervous breakdown.

5. I will buy more black clothing.

Well, that was... refreshing? Wasn't it...?

Actually, we met with Andy Bopp recently about recording a new album that we hope to begin working on this Spring. Our current release, The Complete Pet Soul, was a fun one-off, but we anticipate the new album being a step beyond Repeater in scope, especially with Tony in the fold and our palette expanded. We'll also continue to re-tool our live show, so this should be an exciting year for us musically. Hope you stick around for the ride.

Our recent tour of Spain was a resounding success. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows. Houston Party did a great job of getting us on TV and radio, as well as setting up cool gigs. While we consistently delivered the rock, we also had the opportunity to show off the softer side of Splitsville with some acoustic shows. All in all it was great fun and we look forward to heading back soon. Check out our upcoming tour dates, as we're going to play sparingly over the next few months. However, we are doing shows outside of Baltimore, so look for us in your hometown.

See you soon.

Matt
